Transition Calcium Bolus for cows is fast-dissolving calcium supplement bolus for freshening cows. Formulated with three forms of calcium and Vitamin D3. Contains calcium chloride for immediate absorption, calcium propionate for moderate immediate release (maintains calcium levels longer) and calcium carbonate, which offers low immediate release (with calcium level increasing over time). Manufactured with a patented process, using high concentrations of liquefied nutrients, hardened and compressed into a single, quick dissolution bolus.

Fast-dissolving oral calcium supplement for cows intended for the transition period. Easy to administer, safe for the animal and prepares cows to enter the milking herd in a normal time frame. Each bolus contains immediate release calcium and sustained release calcium to help combat milk fever and other common metabolic complications before they start. Also provides vitamin D, which is necessary for the absorption and metabolism of calcium and phosphorous. Using a patented process, high concentrations of nutrients are liquefied, hardened and compressed into a single, quick-dissolution bolus. Application advantages include no sharp edges or surfaces, no palatability issues common with drenches and pastes, and no withdrawal period. Dosage: 88 grams (22 grams calcium; ideal for Jersey cows) – Give 2 boluses prior to or immediately following calving and an additional 2 boluses 12 hours later. 176 grams (44 grams calcium) – 1 bolus followed by another bolus 12 hours later.

Directions: Using a balling gun, insert bolus into back of cow’s mouth. After administration, allow water access. Do not administer with excessive force, nor administer to cows that are lying down, aggressive cows or cows without a normal swallowing reflex.
